Frequently Asked Questions
We understand that weather and unforeseen circumstances can affect your plans. If you need to reschedule your session for these reasons, we’re happy to provide a new date or a full refund. Please inform us as soon as possible if rescheduling is necessary.
During peak times, a non-refundable deposit may be required at the time of booking to secure your session.
We never charge for editing! All editing, retouching, item removal, person removal, color correction, and blemish removal are included in your session. While we strive to fix as much as possible, some issues may not be fully correctable. Common challenges include stray hairs and the green reflective tinge caused by the coating on eyeglasses.
We are based in Short Pump, VA, and offer free travel within a 25-mile radius, covering the greater Richmond area. For locations beyond that, there is a travel fee of $1 per mile. I will always inform you if travel fees apply.
My photography style centers around two main goals. First, I aim to create a relaxed atmosphere where my clients feel comfortable and at ease. The best photos come when you’re relaxed, and I’m skilled at reading the room to ensure that everyone feels natural and confident. Second, while cell phones take great pictures, I aim to provide images that distinguish themselves with professional quality. I achieve this through the use of longer focal lengths and the right equipment, which allows me to capture depth, detail, and perspectives that set my work apart.
On average, you can expect to receive one photo for each minute of the session. However, the use of techniques like off-camera flash or more intricate setups may slightly decrease the number of photos I’m able to take. If you have a specific number of photos you’re expecting, please let me know, and I’ll do my best to meet your expectations. Quality is always my priority, so I focus on delivering the best shots rather than just quantity.
I pride myself on offering an industry-leading turnaround, with most clients receiving their photos within 2 days. However, I guarantee delivery within 7 days. If you need your photos sooner than that, please let me know, and I’ll do my best to accommodate your request.
You’ll receive your photos through an online gallery, where you can download both social media-resolution and full-resolution images. You’ll also have the option to purchase high-quality prints through a professional printing service.
I provide you with full print, download, and social media posting rights to your images. While some photographers market this as a unique perk with certain packages, I believe it should simply be standard practice. These are your photos, your memories, and you should have full control over how you use them. While Virginia law gives exclusive rights to the photographer under copyright law, I wholeheartedly support giving you complete access to print and share your images as you wish—no restrictions.
I have a blog write-up coming on this topic!
My preferred payment methods are Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, or cash. I also accept many forms of payment through Stripe: credit card, Google Pay, Cash App, and Amazon Pay for your convenience. You may even view your final photos prior to paying (they will have watermarks until payment is collected). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. For details, please review our Privacy Policy.
Yes, pets are always welcome in your photoshoot! I love capturing the special bond between you and your furry friends. Just let me know in advance if you’ll be bringing a pet, and we can plan the session accordingly.
Yes, absolutely! I offer headshot sessions for multiple employees in one booking. These are priced based on the same rates and time as my other sessions. While many photographers charge per employee, I don’t feel that reflects the amount of work involved. I typically budget around 20 minutes for administrative tasks and setup, with approximately 10 minutes per employee. Headshots do require more editing on the backend, but I focus on providing high-quality results for every individual, regardless of the number.
For headshots, I recommend wearing solid colors and avoiding busy patterns or logos, as they can be distracting. Choose clothing that makes you feel confident and reflects your professional style. Neutral tones like navy, gray, and black work well, but feel free to add a pop of color if it aligns with your personality or branding. It’s best to avoid overly bright colors or clothing that might wrinkle easily. If you need help deciding, feel free to reach out, and I’d be happy to offer more guidance!
Photography involves much more than just taking pictures. While the session itself is important, a significant portion of the cost comes from the time spent behind the scenes. For every hour of shooting, I typically spend around 4 hours culling and editing the images to ensure you receive the highest-quality results. This includes cropping, adjusting exposure and contrast, color correction, sharpening, noise reduction, removing unwanted elements, retouching skin blemishes, and making localized adjustments to specific areas of the image to enhance details and achieve a desired aesthetic. When you invest in professional photography, you’re paying for not only the session but the expertise and dedication that goes into delivering polished, high-quality images.
